Plotinus theorised that it wasn’t enough for matter to just exist. There must be an underlying substrate of probability which contains all possible laws and probabilities that objective forms could exist as. A ‘subject’ underlying the objects as it were. A creative potentiality unseen by the human eye.
But why is each of us obsessed with the outsides and objects of reality, rather than the mind which underlies it, which is not entirely unlike this unseen structure ,apart from the fact it is not restricted by the limitations of the physical realm.
