If someone played a single note on a trumpet, while you listen to the note, I’m aware of the cause of the note and what is listening.
In essence the ego plays the note, and the observer listens. Even when the player of the note is alone. Undoing some personality changes can reveal the observer again.
True religious practice is an evolution over a ‘usually’ 5 to 8 year period. Religion is the carrier of this truth that there is a need to evolve psychologically, to not live by my own ideas of like and dislike, just because everyone else does.
Consciousness emerges in layers from the kernel of pure awareness. As you work back through them with meditation, you pull awareness from the senses, then conceptual thought and so on.
If you combine this with fasting from the world, as the dualism and like/dislike experiences of society, sports, politics and media leave your mindspace, insights take place but only once any will is transcended to want or gain anything from the insight. It only works when you relax the idea that you must be good at it to achieve anything. Knowledge is a curse to the seeker once the method is known.
Initially, the insights lead you to why we are the way we are. Your mind will decide how long you need to understand this. Keep practicing. There is more. Another place inside.
Many a doctrine and philosophy suggests crushing the head of the serpent with your heel. In this case, it refers to beating the r-complex (of P. D. MacLean’s Triune Brain) or reptilian brain, by using the Neocortex and meditation. Neuroplasticity is your brain’s ability to adapt to new tasks and as such, your brain will adapt to the wholesome state of a balanced mind, and train in avoiding regressing or descending to the lower states, if you follow a given set of techniques, carefully, and under guidance this habit is broken and a brief opportunity to take a second look from another perspective is offered. One not driven by gain for yourself.
The neocortex is the higher functioning brain. Not the scared r-complex or aggressive limbic brain.
The personality has integrated interfaces. If I follow the paradigm, I have a wife/partner/sex-life, house, 2 cars, good job, 2.2 kids, money, holidays and so on. As a result, similar aspirations arise within the personality. A better version of all of the above is usually the next step. This need is perpetual. Growth is perpetual and if not, a person slips back in self-esteem. If enough ‘standard’ things are changed, this can be fatal.
We are in fact an open book.
Those following their own path are dragged in to the superficial nature of the collective. Again and again, it demands the seeker, who employs techniques to be at rest and at depth, to resurface and take care of trivial needs and demands made on us by other personalities.
The primary of which is banal conversation. The minds of the parts of the collective are wrapped up in what media sources ooze from themselves. Like moths to the flame they gather together and fail to see how that links them, in real-time, to responses which are entirely expected of them, and can be triggered by events. How involved they get is an indicator of how easy they are to sway.
As the minds are ‘maintained’ in this collective state, they sway with each other, therefore a bandwidth of certain responses can be expected from the collectives individual elements. They know they break quite a few eggs while this process continues. More are breaking day-by-day from the trauma caused by being singled out by the chattering, hateful spider-monkeys called society.
Within the framework of the current and past societal norms, misanthropy is not unjust.
This is where love and compassion are required. Just enough to keep oneself in the middle. This is how you love your fellow humans the same.
From a distance.
If there is an egotistical drive to be around other people, so that you are given the opportunity prove yourself, then this comes from the unconscious fear drive of being lonely or a failure.
If this is the case then you are addicted to the company of others out of fear.
Collectivism is a fear-driven needy state of unconsciousness.
The truth cannot be spoken. Current paths can only point to it. Knowledge only provides a method to reach it.
The truth can be spontaneously thought by absolutely anyone, at any time. And yet, barely anyone really wants to know it!
You and I, no doubt, will be used to receiving praise, in various forms, for our achievements and success. That is what we are conditioned for.
Long ago, the Ancient Egyptians believed you had to buy your way into heaven. If the heart was pure, it would weigh the same as a feather. But if it was heavy and soiled by one’s own actions towards others, you could buy your way in. The flaw in this can be seen in the fact the pyramids were plundered before the dead royals could hire the removals guys to pick up their golden gear.
On the contrary, others have since said you can only take with you what will fit through the eye of a needle. I like this view. It implies something detaches and goes through like consciousness.
As such, greed can be manipulated by creating a feeling of inferiority in the population by introducing role-models. A royal family, draped in gold, achieving many good things in public view, or stream of celebrities, dressed up for reward ceremonies will do nicely. Look at what you could have and look like if you just put your back into it!
When minds are conditioned to receive shallow rewards, the reward-based center of the brain becomes overly-emphasized as a response method by allowing other features to slip into a background called the unconscious. The dog-eat-dog society is rooted in this feature.
