As a result of stepping into a false self in our youth, this false self or the narcissistic defense mechanism becomes chronically embedded within the psyche.
It is like a crust of crystal around the self with hard, gleaming surfaces. The Ego is this crust and maintains itself using an appeasement system. Things, the illusion of power, pride even orgasms. All things associated with desires are interfaces within this system.
These are the biblical “sacrifices” an individual makes at his own altar of life. If an individual lays material goods at this altar, they are received without complaint, but they are not the correct currency. Therefore the Ego must continue to sacrifice this under its own illusion of material value. But this is a void for material goods. This altar actually requires nothing less than your Ego be sacrificed at it.
Gospel of Thomas ( Saying 37)
His disciples said: On what day will you be revealed to us, and on what day shall we see you? Jesus said: When you unclothe yourselves and are not ashamed, and take your garments and lay them beneath your feet like the little children (and) trample on them, then [you will see] the Son of the Living One, and you will not be afraid.
Your ego is the part of you that feels shame so in this context your clothes are your Ego, and the Son of the Living One is your Christ mind, viewing your old Ego-self externally to itself within the realm. The Living One, well..you won’t be afraid at that point. It is only your fear which is blocking the love required to …. there is no word for it but observe it is closest.
Your Ego sacrifices your time, your money, your life, and your mind so that it can maintain its grip, and not be seen to be lacking or losing in any way under the sight of its peers. At the time your Ego takes over, you are learning a system of classes, divisions, have and have-not, enemy and friend, and so on.
This system of divisions is embedded with the Ego, making the real functions of schools apparent. Schools are a system of fracturing individuals, messing up their in-built system of peace, restricting thought processes, and imprinting duality. The surrounding psyche’s random bouts of violence and lunacy are also embedded, along with a fear of being alone.
What could be so important about our condition, that requires its capabilities to be covered up and dumbed down in such a way? Why is it important to force this thought system on people and train it to be so competitive, greedy, self-obsessed, violent, and materialistic?
If you break free from this way of thinking, the Ego will retaliate. And to do that it shows itself and when that happens you will come back here at such a speed. I hope you get to see the clothes you wear as an armoring and a mask. It will change your life.
